November 13 meeting!

Please join Greater Seattle for our next meeting on Tuesday, November 13th at Pacific Medical Center located at 1200 - 12th Avenue S in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood. The meeting will start at 7:00pm followed by a CE course from 7:30-8:30pm.

Our speaker for that evening will be Kim Harang, BA, RDH - Essential Oils for the Dental Office. Kim graduated from the University of Washington in 1992 with a BA in Business and worked as a retail buyer. With a desire to help people more directly, Kim returned to school at the Lake Washington Institute of Technology and graduated with her AAS in Dental Hygiene in 1998. She has served two terms as the president of the Lake Washington component and was co-chair of Lake Washington's Sealant Day for six years. In addition to working 3 days per week in private practice, Kim is co-director and a clinician for The Tooth Fairies, a school-based, oral health education and screening program. As part of her ongoing wellness journey, Kim also teaches plant-based health solutions utilizing doTERRA essential oils and products.

This will be our last meeting for 2018 with no meeting in December. We hope you have a wonderful Holiday season and we'll see you in January as we prepare for Legislative Day!!

Update on Continuing Education Credits

Washington State dental hygienists are required to have proof of 15 hours of CE per year for re-license. The courses must relate to dental hygiene. No specifications are made that limit on-line courses.

The clinical dental team must also have BLS for health care providers certification by the American Heart Association.

If you are audited, you need at minimum two years of proof of continuing education.

CE benefit for members

The greater Seattle Dental Hygienists' Society provides, as a member benefit, several free continuing education credits every year. CE courses are offered in conjunction with general meetings, volunteer events, and as a week-end CE course.

Check the general meeting information on this page or the GSDHS calendar for exact dates.
